A Poetic Moment of Reflection: Navigating the Educational Chaos of Guiding Three Boys Learning via Distance Education

As the roos find their spot to go to sleep for the morn,
’Tis time not for rushing out the door with one shoe untied before the bus drives away,
But time to tune in ~ not just to whichever teacher’s online but to the rhythm of each other,
For when you’ve a schoolroom with preschool, upper primary and high school boys going about their day,
And you’re the one guiding all three ensuring all learn to their potential,
It can be an amazing bundle of fun! Though not without challenges that can easily throw everything epically astray;

For all may be harmoniously blissful of a morn whilst everyone’s simultaneously learning a form of literacy,
However, even noise cancelling headphones struggle to eliminate distractions for a pre-teen participating in an online class…
When say an enthusiastic preschooler delves into craft whilst a teen learns to play ukulele…
Making an element of self-awareness and being extra considerate of each other becoming an essential added lesson not to bypass,
Evolving the resilience levels of all so their focus wavers from their task at hand minimally,
Until such moments ease into a needed break to recalibrate ‘fore into a more seraphic lesson combination they surpass.

Though when your classroom is at home with gumtrees and emus out the window,
Flexibility to flow and adjust in alignment with expectations ’tis a necessary skill to bestow,
So when side quests/life/sibling events take learning out into the world there’s minimal impact to educational flow…
Allowing a greater chance for all to participate in school based events without throwing others into productivities undertow,
As when classes from alternate locations ~ often in the car ~ become a normal way for adventures to go,
Lessons find themselves set up in interesting ways with clipboards, laptops and bare necessities in tow.

Thus since setting up our original schoolroom amidst the first covid lockdown,
We’ve rarely had a day one could label boring/overly lackadaisical or mundane,
For someone is always creating an element even amidst the craziest challenges to dissolve a frown,
Without jolting goals off-course or adding to stresses prominent strain,
Often bringing all back into alignments zen with an observation creating a rippling lown,
So all can achieve their days tasks irrespective of aspects like tech glitches adding a splash of mental pain.

As even if it’s a day where you’re the one bouncing from reinforcing an alphabet recital to supporting a PDHPE lesson online to assisting a teen with algebraic fractions,
If in a schoolroom of your own creation with your kids all day is where you find you’re in your element,
Chances are like me you enjoy the harmonised chaos that allows you to constantly witness your children learning new ways to thrive,
In spite of the moments you may think your perception of fun is more than slightly bent,
’Tis truely an experience that has an enchanting aspect that cannot be denied even when the wildlife try to join in sports outside,
Thus for those whom can whilst raising their offspring in the dusty Australian Outback ~ guiding them through distance education is always time well spent.

Hence for all whom think they need it: my probably controversial words of wisdom on this quest to educate ones children are as follows;
Whilst you may be a mum with a moderately reliable modem trying to guide your children’s education from the schoolroom at home/dining table/van/car,
’Tis essential you find YOUR FLOW ~ don’t stress about following timetables but create and manifest manageable DALIY GOALS,
In the end ensuring each child has a one on one session each day is more important than a strict 9-3 by far,
For whilst it may take your time in the schoolroom to exceeding say 10 hours a day,
It supports them through any aspects they’re struggling with so they can academically shine like the star you believe they are!

And Remember: We may not always climb the way others understand or design; but if we’ve the resilience to try enough, we can find our own way to the top; and as tomorrow is a new day full of endless possibilities ~ release your tensions lingering from today and recalibrate your perspective so you can start tomorrow morn afresh! 🙂
