A Poetic Moment Pondering How Focused Activities Change Our Perception of Time

Daily writing prompt
Which activities make you lose track of time?
When one becomes one with the task they’re undertaking completely in a moment,
Hours can dissolve into perceived minutes through ones perspective,
An entire day vanishing in what seems like a single brushstroke,
Only to be discovered when the suns set creating thoughts deflective,
Triggering a new moment of introspection to unveil ones progress in time unseen,
Filled with satisfying achievements rather than a stolen day of procrastinations reflective.

For time doesn’t pass us by ~ we can just become focused to the point we don’t see it leave,
Each breath becoming a progressive element swallowing a moment that can last all day,
‘Till something jolts us from our entranced focus forcing us to take a reprieve,
However when ’tis a creations completion bringing a natural ending to a moment in a timeless foray,
’Tis bittersweet to have finalised the creation through to the point you probably struggled to even believe,
Would be possible in moments you’ve productively procrastinated away before diving meditatively into it’s parlay.

As when in the middle of doing something we truely enjoy our mind vanishes,
Into a state where nothing but our task exists ~ the clock/phone/thoughts/distractions ~ them it just banishes,
Thus whilst the clocks hands may move; focus and silence pause ones perception of time ~ bringing an array of advantages,
Allowing us a moment for seraphic lucubration to evolve through the way it establishes,
Our mental focus akin to a hot laser on a point it burns and eventually ravages,
Until it quintessentially finds it’s completion ~ irrespective it be by force or otherwise finishes.

For when we give all of our focus to our tasks with no notice of the clocks ticking ~ just our motion,
The world around us may be cycling through its day like nothing is ajar,
Yet we’re flowing mind and body at one in a moment with complete mental devotion,
Creating our current masterpiece ~ weaving it into reality for those afar,
Unaware of anything outside our unintended bubble of quiescence deflecting commotion,
Akin to creating it not in our current location but isolated from all on a distant star...

Thus when we’re so deep in a task that we only come up for breath when the sun makes way for night,
Once hot beverages finding the sink and bright eyed children demanding a snack,
We know we’re in a divine place of alignment both within ourselves and what we ripple to the world,
In a seraphic flow seemingly designed just for us where nothing we need is in lack,
For all can be perceived as perfectly where ’tis supposed to be in any given moment,
Whilst one ventures onwards through their poetic lifestyle energetically on track.

A Poetic Moment Pondering Our Understanding of Perception Being the Key to Empathy

Try as we might no two beings can ever share the same view of perception,
Even identical twins with their amazing abilities still have varied perspectives,
Though we empathise and attempt at times to align with the view of another,
Our brain still separates ours from that of the chosen other..

Despite attempts to understand ~ attempts to empathise,
We truely struggle not to clash when polar perceptions arise,
Even when 'tis the perception of someone to which we’re very close,
There’s still little we can do to fully align perspectives beyond our human dose.

At times as these ’tis when well practised etiquette MUST lead our way,
For when it can’t or doesn’t ’tis when to arguments we are lead astray,
Thus mastery of oneself can perhaps be our best solution to this quest,
And being mindful towards those whom in the moment aren’t probably is best.

But how can we possibly achieve this mastery and mindfulness towards others?
When our lives feel already overwhelming ~ making us want to run to our mothers…
Can we really get our minds to permanently master etiquette? Well… No.
As ’tis an ongoing practice needing us to master each moment as we go.

Yet as we learn new tactics and apply them to our lives,
Our ability to master ourselves in each moment grows and thrives,
Becoming easier to conquer this never ending quest for ourselves,
Though still as humans we all have moments we leave our mastery on our shelves.

’Tis in these dreadful moments we need mindfulness from those we are around,
A silent empathetic understanding rippled out needing not a sound,
Though more often we’re met and mirrored with just the opposite,
Which leaves us wounded in ways that can have affects rippling undesirable from it.

These wounds if left in need of healing for way too long,
Can impact our lives and future generations after we’re gone,
Thus ’tis imperative we strive to heal and make repairs,
Irrespective of the moments we endure ‘are you mad?’ glares.

Yet heal and conquer our mastery of ourselves we MUST,
Despite the rolling eyes we may perceive around us,
We need at times to align ourselves with the warrior we’ve within,
Before our lives for the current day should even really begin!
